Community teaching plan presentation and essay
I had the opportunity to teach a group of fifth graders about the importance of nutrition. During my lesson, I focused on how different food groups contribute to overall health and wellness. I used visuals like colorful posters and charts to help illustrate concepts better.
The students were very engaged throughout the entire lesson and seemed excited to learn about nutrition and how it could help them reach their goals. Throughout the lesson, I noticed that some students enjoyed problem-solving activities while others prefer having more hands-on opportunities such as cooking or tasting different foods.
This reinforced my belief that teaching needs to be tailored according to each learner’s interests and strengths in order for them to truly understand the material being taught. Overall, observe that allowing students time for active participation yields better learning results than lecturing alone would have done.
