One emerging global risk is the increasing threat of cyber-attacks. As technology advances and more businesses rely on digital systems, they become increasingly vulnerable to attack by malicious actors who can disrupt operations and steal information. The Internet of Things (IoT) has provided an even greater opportunity for these actors as connected devices have become a target due to their lack of security protocols. Additionally, many companies have weak cybersecurity practices or lack resources to effectively protect themselves from attack which makes them especially susceptible to theft or destruction of valuable data. An increase in ransomware attacks has also put organizations at great risk as attackers are able blackmail victims into paying large sums of money for access back into their own systems.
