Humanistic-existential psychotherapy is an approach that focuses on the individual’s subjective experience, highlighting the importance of meaning, choice, and personal responsibility in addressing psychological issues. The goal of this form of therapy is to help clients become more aware of their circumstances and how they can take an active role in making changes. This approach often incorporates aspects such as self-exploration, free expression, and existential exploration which allows individuals to confront deep seated emotions while examining core beliefs about themselves and life.
The second approach I have selected is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT uses cognitive restructuring techniques to address dysfunctional thought patterns or behaviors by challenging them with new evidence or perspectives. Through a combination of talk therapy and practical exercises, this method provides individuals with strategies to challenge irrational thoughts and modify negative behaviors. By learning new ways to cope with stressors and other difficult situations in life, CBT helps people make lasting positive changes in their lives.
