Personal nursing philosophy assignment | Nursing homework help
My personal philosophy of practice revolves around the idea that health and wellness can be achieved if a person is provided both physical and mental support. I believe in providing individualized care to patients with empathy, respect, dignity, and selflessness. I prioritize developing positive trusting relationships among my patients by connecting them emotionally through effective communication strategies which include active listening, open-ended questioning and summarizing what is heard from the patient.
I believe that each person has an inherent value as a human being regardless of any differences or their social position; every patient must be treated with respect for their autonomy and rights. A person’s environment plays an important role in their health since it affects all aspects of life including physical space, family dynamics, cultural dynamics etc., thus I consider it important to understand the whole picture before making decisions about patient care.
I firmly believe that nursing consists of providing holistic care which includes not only delivering treatments but also advocating for patients’ rights while maintaining confidentiality within the bounds of professionalism, ethics laws and regulations. Lastly, I feel that professional nurse-patient relationships are based on trust built by understanding how each individual understands their condition; this requires assessing needs beyond just medical issues such as socio-economic factors affecting access to healthcare services or psycho-emotional needs arising due to chronic disease management so that more comprehensive treatment plans can be developed according to personalized preferences and values.
