Module 02 course project – select topic
The increased complexity of care among older adults can be attributed to a variety of factors. Many older adults have developed chronic conditions or diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes, and arthritis. As a result, they may need comprehensive care that involves multiple medications and monitoring by specialty providers like cardiologists or endocrinologists. Additionally, the use of assistive devices like wheelchairs or walkers can add to the complexity of their care by requiring additional assistance from family members or caregivers for mobility needs. Aging also includes cognitive decline which may lead to confusion or difficulty understanding instructions or managing self-care tasks. This necessitates more hands-on support from family members in order to ensure safety and adherence to medication regimens as well as providing emotional support during times of distress. Finally, social isolation due to limited access to transportation combined with changes in physical abilities can further complicate the management of care for older individuals.
