Capstone Proposal: Exploring Factors Influencing Employee Retention in the Technology Sector

Background and Purpose: The technology sector has seen significant growth in recent years, due to advances in digital transformation and increased automation. Businesses within this space are always striving to remain competitive by recruiting top-tier talent and avoiding costly turnover costs associated with employee departure. This project seeks to explore factors that influence employee retention within the technology sector, with a focus on identifying strategies companies can implement to reduce the likelihood of staff leaving their organization.

Objectives/Goals: The primary objective of this research is to uncover patterns or correlations between organizational practices and employees’ desirability for remaining with a company, such as reward systems, job satisfaction levels and corporate culture among others. Additionally, we aim to identify any potential key performance indicators (KPIs) that businesses can measure regarding these aspects so they can better track progress towards optimizing their workforce retention strategy over time.

Scope & Methodology: Our scope will include conducting primary research through surveys & interviews alongside secondary sources of information such as existing reports & studies related to our topic area. We plan on surveying individuals currently employed at various tech companies across different regions while also interviewing senior HR personnel at some of these firms directly so that we have a good representation of both perspectives concerning this issue. We intend on using qualitative analysis methodology along with descriptive statistical approaches when interpreting results obtained from our data collection efforts so that it is easier to draw meaningful conclusions from the insights gathered throughout our investigation phase.

Timeline & Deliverables: Over the course of four weeks, we expect to complete all necessary phases for carrying out successful execution of this study including data gathering (2 weeks), analysis (1 week) and interpretation/documentation phase (1 week). As deliverables upon completion, a detailed report consisting an executive summary outlining major findings as well as accompanying visualizations/tables comparing results across different target demographics shall be prepared for submission which should provide readers essential information about our research effort quickly in an easy-to-digest format
