Interview and interdisciplinary issue identification
Interdisciplinary collaboration is a key factor in achieving desired patient and systems outcomes. It involves cooperation among professionals from different disciplines, including doctors, nurses, therapists and other healthcare related professionals. The goal of interdisciplinary collaboration is to leverage the collective skills and experience of the team to achieve improved care quality, efficient patient care processes, higher satisfaction levels among providers, improved clinical outcomes for patients and better resource utilization throughout the organization (Hollenbeck et al., 2018). Interdisciplinary collaboration can also be used to address various organizational issues such as cost efficiency and performance improvement. Additionally, an interdisciplinary approach can be used to incorporate evidence-based practice into an organization’s protocols and procedures in order to ensure that all decisions being made are informed by research on best practices (Lau et al., 2017).
One example of how interdisciplinary collaboration could be employed to resolve a specific health care organization issue was observed during a recent interview with the CEO of a community hospital. The CEO described how there had been increasing complaints about long wait times within the emergency department due to inadequate staffing levels within certain departments. After conducting an internal assessment through interviews with staff members from each department involved in these processes it was evident that certain steps taken prior or concurrent with patient arrival were causing delays which then led to delayed discharge further exacerbating overall wait time issues faced by ER personnel etc..
In order for this issue to be addressed effectively using evidence-based practice several approaches could be employed depending on nature severity problem at hand need take immediate measures alleviate strain system cooperatively across board possible therefore collaborative discussions spanning various disciplines must occur ensure objectives determined materialize actions taken appropriate manner according regulations papers proceeded with due course necessary information gathered submit paperwork required appointments schedule minutes passed discuss alternative resolutions eventually agree upon come common consensus everyone involved enter agreement established standards held accountable meet satisfactory expectations arrive mutually beneficial arrangement both parties short long terms.
