Starbucks and Coca-Cola are two giant corporations in the food, beverage, and leisure industry. These companies have made a commitment to social responsibility which is an ethical imperative that organizations carry out much of their operations for the greater good of all stakeholders involved. Starbucks’ program One World Together focuses on providing benefits like free healthcare, tuition reimbursement, paid parental leave and retirement plans to ensure employee wellbeing (“Partner Benefits” 2021). Additionally, Starbucks has implemented environmental initiatives such as eliminating single use plastics from stores by 2022 to reduce waste (Rigby 2020) Similarly, Coca-Cola uses its 5by20 program to empower women farmers through technology training programs as well as access to finance capital so that they can increase productivity leading in turn an increase in income generation opportunities (Rouse 2018).
