How a bill becomes a law
Problem or Concern: The lack of access to affordable and quality health care for low-income families.
Proposal: To provide accessible, quality and affordable health care services to low-income families in our community by establishing a public subsidized health insurance program. This will help those who are currently uninsured or underinsured receive the coverage they need and deserve.
Justification/Rationale: Accessible, quality, and affordable healthcare is a basic human right that should not be denied due to socio-economic status. Low income individuals often struggle with accessing necessary medical services due to their financial hardship; this can lead to further complications or even death if left untreated. Furthermore, these individuals may rely on government funded programs such as Medicaid; however, these programs have problematic restrictions when it comes accessibility of certain types of care (i.e., specialty) leading them unable to obtain specialized medical attention they require. By establishing a public subsidy health insurance program we will guarantee all individuals regardless of social class share equitable access to healthcare resources which ultimately leads equitable outcomes in population wellbeing within our communities thus providing better overall living standards for all citizens alike.
