There are both advantages and disadvantages to implementing a Community-Based Participatory Research project (CBPR), health promotion program with vulnerable populations. CBPR is a method that allows active participation and engagement of the community to the research process. This can result in a stronger sense of ownership for the plan and greater buy-in from the vulnerable population. CBPR is a way to increase cultural relevance and the effectiveness of the plan’s health promotion. Community members can provide feedback and input on its design and execution.
There are potential downsides when working with vulnerable populations. It can be more challenging to engage the community and include them in research because of health disparities or inequalities. In addition, some vulnerable groups may not have the resources or support they need to participate fully in this project.
