Although the intention of the discussion was clear overall, two participants were not able to participate. The discussion was open and both members prepared. While the general atmosphere was constructive, it could have been more efficient to get more people involved in the discussion. Future discussions could be enhanced by assigning particular discussion points to group members and setting a time limit. This will increase the productivity of each member. It may help to set ground rules and to encourage group cooperation.
The “Planning a Playground” video focuses on the challenges of deciding the location and design of a playground, as well as addressing community concerns. They were able to listen and consider the various viewpoints from the members of the community. It was possible to have constructive conflict as members were able discuss their differences with respect. The situation was not without its challenges. A member of the group became angry and aggressive, which led to an increase in tensions. The group leader might have dealt with the conflict differently by setting limits and reminding members to respect one another’s opinions.
