Anthropologists have many information resources that can provide details about the society in which they work. An anthropologist’s most trusted source of information is the media. There are many media outlets that provide information about society’s beliefs, culture and habits. An anthropologist can also analyze the media habits of a country to determine its way of living. To understand the language use of a particular society, for example, an anthropologist would study how its members post on social media. An anthropologist might also be able to gain information about the society’s use of language through articles discussing the subject. However, the anthropologist will need to use media sources in order obtain the required knowledge. Therefore, the anthropologist is able to fulfill the goals of the discipline. This requires him or her to be a part of the communities and learn about them.
Nurses may use media consumption to understand the various challenges facing the patients in their areas. Nurses may read articles that discuss current issues in nursing, like outbreaks or illnesses. This information helps the nurse to diagnose the patient and aid in the preparations. A nurse following COVID-19 updates is more likely to be able to determine which diagnosis to use on a patient suffering from flu symptoms (Chan and al. 2020), thus minimizing misdiagnosis.
