Anthropologists seek to understand diverse social ideas through in-depth research. They do this primarily by immersing themselves into the communities to gain firsthand information about the phenomenon they are studying. In their studies of society they also examine the way that media depicts various social concepts (Rofil 2019, 2019). An anthropologist would interact with media such as newspapers and social media in order to understand the context of their communities. Because they analyze the predominant media, they gain a deeper understanding of the communities. This helps them uncover vital facts about society.
Nursing may use some of the techniques used by anthropologists for researching communities using the media. Nurses may also use media to gain a deeper understanding of their patient groups and communities. Through this engagement, it is possible to understand the culture and values of patients by looking at their common lifestyles, perspectives, and views on nursing-related subjects. One example is that a nurse could get information on patient diets and draw conclusions about specific nutritional disorders. A nurse might also base her diagnosis or testing on its prevalence based upon information from the media.
In addition to utilizing the media as a source of health information, nurses may also utilize it to promote public health information through increasing health problem awareness (Gao, & Hao, 2017). Social media channels allow nurses to connect with others and help them in their professional advancement.
