Within the next five year, I would like to become a registered nurse (RN), in leadership roles as a manager or policy advocate. My next step is to obtain specialist certification. I also plan on participating in leadership training programs. To increase my opportunities of building new relationships with nurses professionals, I will also join professional nursing associations. A RN who is in a managerial position can self-manage to ensure they are fulfilling their duties efficiently. Leaders and managers in nursing are accountable for their patients’ health and that of the nurses working within their department. This can make it stressful to be around these people. Therefore, I have chosen the method that will help me understand stress better. It has a negative impact on patients. Therefore, I will learn how to manage stress professionally as well as personally. (Yoder Wise, 2014). In order to be a great leader, you must first understand your stress and then develop strategies for coping. Being able to take control of my leadership roles and as a nurse, will help me become a skilled nurse.
Discussion Prompt # 7.2
It is the foundation of nursing to provide care for patients without regard to race or origin. Unfortunately, many still face barriers to accessing equitable healthcare in most countries. My proposals include universal healthcare equity regulations and additional legislative positions for nurses to help in their enforcement. Nurses can uphold nursing values by ensuring that patients have access to their basic human rights. This industry needs to overcome issues related to poverty, gender and sexual orientation. (Nickitas 2019, 2019). Leaders of nurses will help to pass legislation essential for the delivery of quality care. Nursing is well-positioned to address socioeconomic factors that affect health and help patients receive high quality healthcare.
