More than 34,2 millions Americans have been diagnosed with diabetes. Nearly 70% of those diagnosed with diabetes have advanced complications due to poor blood sugar management (National Diabetes Statistics Report 2020). The most severe effects of diabetes can be felt at the local level. Hispanics as well as Blacks reported an increase in their diabetes rates. The situation is exacerbated by the lack of real strategies for family clinics that encourage healthy lifestyles, and difficulty in obtaining adequate healthcare (Dugani 2020). People who have uncontrolled diabetes can suffer from both economic and physical health problems. Access to quality health care is limited for minority groups. Technology could help improve the management of diabetes. We developed a plan together with some other stakeholders, including dieticians and diabetic nurses. This was to increase community awareness about the importance of using technology to manage blood sugar. This will reduce the incidence of diabetes in the area.
Problem
The incidence of diabetes is on the rise in minority communities. A greater number lack access to quality health care.
Life-threatening complications can result from diabetes. Diabetes can have long-term effects, and type 2 is the most common.
Diabetes can cause serious health problems such as cardiovascular disease, heart attack, stroke, eye injury, kidney damage and loss of hearing, nerve damage, retina damage, kidney failure, sight impairment, skin conditions, depression, Alzheimer’s disease, and other life-threatening complications.
As a registered nursing assistant, it is my duty to advocate for technology and diabetes management. Monitorizing therapy for different patients can be a tedious task for nurses. Internet-based treatments offer a practical, efficient and effective alternative. The net result is a significant decrease in the glycated hemoglobin. Nursing should keep promoting the Internet’s role in diabetes prevention, treatment and management. To improve diabetes patient’s health and decrease their death rate, nurses must encourage them to utilize web-based therapy.
Lösung
Technology can overcome geographical barriers, scheduling problems, shortages of diabetes educators and limited access to healthcare. Positive outcomes have been achieved by the application of technology in various areas of healthcare. Information sharing and the availability of instructions, pamphlets, and instructions as downloadable files, has made it possible to distribute information and education about health. The internet-based interventions programs provide current information about the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of problems. (Alcántara-Aragón, 2019) Doctors and other health care professionals must collaborate closely with patients to help them appreciate the internet’s potential to prevent and manage diabetes. For prevention and awareness to be effective, the patient must participate fully.
