They believed that by limiting the power of the Electors and allowing them to be elected to the Seat of Government, they would reduce corruption, ensure fair elections, and give Americans a free and fair election. Because the Electoral College doesn’t give conventional elections an excessive amount influence, presidential candidates tend to concentrate their campaign on large states and ignore smaller ones like Delaware.
