The text “Thumbs Up” contains a lot of information about the role of criticism in movies and novels. It is difficult to accept that critics are one way work can be valued. Many people think that critics can be individuals with unfavorable views about certain films or books (Ross 333). But, reading “Thumbs-Up” I learned that criticism can be used to express one’s desire for a movie or story to be perfect.
My favorite film is ‘Hangover. Some review sites, like ‘Tomato’, have both negative and positive reviews about the movie. While many critics of the film felt the events weren’t funny, they did agree that the characters in the film were hilarious. I don’t believe such critics are real. My favorite film is my film so these criticisms have no basis in fact. If reviewers choose to be selective when expressing their opinions, it is usually because they are pursuing a specific objective. Primarily, people with negative attitudes didn’t offer suggestions for further improvements.
But the movie also had the benefit of allowing people to see how the filmmakers presented the idea of friendship. Many people missed the movie’s message about friendship, and instead focused their attention on the jokes. The production team wanted to prove that friends can deceive, and this was one of my favorite criticisms about the film. Because the message of the film was important to the viewers more than the characters and props, this is why the movie’s popularity was so high.
