Excellent morning. Your acceptance of our invitation is greatly appreciated. This meeting will be led by me, the chief operating officer. I look forward to a fruitful conversation. This presentation will focus on an ethics committee within a hospital. Because it assists in the resolution and prevention of ethical issues, the ethics committee is crucial to the success of any hospital. At my previous employer, I was part of an ethics committee. Every institution should have one. We will hopefully have a better understanding of what the ethics committee does and why it exists in the intensive care unit.
A successful decision-making process requires the composition of an ethics committee. This team must include people of different cultures and departments in healthcare. Hajibabaee and colleagues. Hajibabaee & al. (2016) state that members need to have a variety of skills and knowledge in order to reach an agreement on tackling an ethical issue. Diverse groups spark conversations about new facts and different opinions that lead to morally and safely sound conclusions.
To be a good doctor, ethics is vital. Life-prolonging treatments that are performed on patients who cannot survive without intensive care units are among the most inappropriate (Kon and al., 2016). It is not uncommon for actions to require the application of ethics when making intelligent judgments, especially in such a critical environment. Magelssen and colleagues, 2017, stated that the ethical committee promotes ethics in healthcare settings and helps to resolve ethical problems.
In order to increase patient safety and satisfaction, the ethical committee provides education in the hospital setting (Singh 2020). It meets regularly to discuss the performance of the hospital in executing ethical rules. The group also organizes future training sessions on these principles (Baker and al., 2020).
The rising role of the ethics board has seen it engage in activities that have an impact on hospital operations. Baker et.al. According to Baker and colleagues (2020), ethics committees are not limited to ethical behaviours in healthcare. They also undertake risk management activities and enforce regulations.
