Ancient Greeks believed that health was of paramount importance. The Greeks equated health with divinity and disease to supernatural events. It is clear that the Greeks have made a significant impact on Western medicine. Theorists have created a new paradigm for understanding wellbeing and illness through recent breakthroughs in medicine, psychology, sociology, and politics. They believe that the key premise of human mental drive is the health-wellness paradigm. This paradigm can be used to improve nursing care in a modern environment.
The strong integration of nursing paradigm principles in health and wellness continues to make the themes of health and well-being a core part. The client’s personal experiences are at the heart of both these notions. The relative movement of the graph to the right indicates healthy behaviours, while the opposite is true for poor health. Oliver et. al., 2020. This information may be used by the nurse to inform the client about the last steps needed to reach their goals.
It is important to understand the nursing profession’s role in the continuum. A nurse knows that patients are not necessarily healthy if they do not have a specific disease. The nurse is aware that a patient’s health status may not always indicate that they are healthy. To reduce illness exposure, a nurse who holds this perspective will offer exceptional education in health to patients. Screening aids can be accepted to help identify early illnesses and stop disease progression (Alslman, et al. 2017, 2017). Prophylaxis tertiary will decrease the severity of illness and prevent complications. Communication with clients using the health-illness continuum approach to health will increase client’s health.
