One of the main hypotheses that explain evolution and the continued existence of certain species is evolutionary theory. Charles Darwin proposed the theory that evolution was responsible for the emergence of many species in The Origin of Species. Darwin defines evolution as the process whereby the genetic makeup and environment of a population change over time. These genetic changes can lead to genetic diversity as well as shifts in the frequencies of alleles over time. This results in multiple species. According to the hypothesis, organisms with similar traits are all at the same evolutionary stage. It is possible that organisms of the same type have wide variations in their physical traits, such as color, shape, size and form. This could be due to adaptation in the area, rather than the evolution stage.
For understanding the diversity of each group’s traits, it is necessary to have variations. Darwin’s main argument is based on this notion. Darwin claims that all the traits present around the globe such as physical features like wings, feathers and feet or color, shape and size of species is the result natural selection. This happens because each animal has tried to adapt to its surroundings. To help different species survive, variations are made. For example, the purpose of most animals’ fur is to protect them against high temperatures.
They are passed down from one generation to the next. Their importance is due to natural selection. Children learn from their parents and can adapt to the environment by absorbing certain qualities. Natural selection can be described as the ability of organisms and species to adapt to changing environments through variation. Inability to adapt makes them weak and eventually extinct. Variants are heritable. It is therefore essential to ensure that the environment can be adjusted by children, thus ensuring the survival of species (Darwin). Natural selection would make it impossible to identify the distinguishing characteristics among species. They would have lost their adaptive traits. Darwin claims that evolution is driven by the natural selection changes.
