The theater may appear to have been the target of Neoclassicism’s French emergence. It did not happen. France did not, like Britain and Spain, recognize the effects of theater and plays on people. It was hard to monitor theatrical performances when drama was being recognized as a need for supervision. Print may be evidence of the intentions of the playwright, according to some theories. It would prove difficult, as Neoclassicism could require the handling of materials that are not French. Neoclassicism did not target theater, but the need was there to make sure that the arts reflected the desires of the ruling class.
France recognised the role of culture and language for advancing the vision of the ruling class. Zarrilli and co. The establishment of the French Academy in 2013 was considered the start of Neoclassicism’s realization. King Charles II wanted a French identity so that the French could be compared to English and Spanish. There was a distinct culture. The governing class decided the traditions. The ruling class made many decisions that would affect even the most disadvantaged classes. Spain was an example of this. The nobility had funded the theatre troupes in Spain but the vast majority of those who attended were from the lower socio-economic ranks. France is a different story. The dramatist in France has flexibility and can adapt his or her actions to suit any audience. It was therefore necessary that the King found a method to prevent disobedience from plays being created. With stakeholders like the French Academy, indicating whether a dramatist is a member of the French cultural tradition or not, this could not be done on paper.
It was thought that the French government did not have any defined principles, even though it had a monarch. This was done to emphasize the similarities between English and Spanish administrations. In which class inequalities were second to loyalty to queen, This was a belief of the French ruling class. Some theorists believed that plays could be used to enhance French cultural activities (Zarrilli, et. al. 2013, 2013). Notably this led to concepts such as decorum. In this case, these actions were not allowed to be part of a performance. What was known as decorum was adopted to make sure that the written style was consistent with the directives of the monarch.
