Dadaism was born out of frustrations experienced by a section of the European population towards World War I. Others believed the war was unnecessary. These people believed that individual had violated the human norms. This movement held that people were not rational anymore and are instead controlled by technology. Each side wanted to prove its military strength when war broke out. Dadaism supporters believed mankind was at risk from the war machines. Dadaism’s purpose was therefore to create confusion in the world. It would make it easier for people to question the propaganda of the political elite (Petrov 2016). Proponents felt it was necessary to awaken the world, as so many people were involved in military operations. The movement is believed to have originated in Zurich where war was not an issue at that time.
It is unclear what the connection is between Dadaism, Duchampism and Duchampism. Duchampism, a movement which was supported by Duchamp who was one of the most prominent art figures to back Dadaism, is the source of the dispute. This misunderstanding is because Duchamp may have discovered an alternate route within Dadaism, but it was not clear from Bigsby 2017. There are some differences between the motions. Dadaism was a way to incite change through irritating the people. They believed by offering material that is humorous and a new approach to subjects, people could increase public awareness about the topic, especially those related to conflict. Duchamp, however, chose to use humor in his presentation, even though he still adhered to the principles of increasing awareness about the dangers of war. Although many strategies were utilized, Duchamp’s purpose in this case was to raise awareness about the negative effects of war. There is also evidence that Duchamp added a beard to Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa original painting. (Bigsby 2017, 2017). This humorous approach was intended to show the world that war is not just about the beauty of the painting, but also to help people understand the effects of war on their lives.
