James, my sincere regards. I wish you all the best. Let me share with you some information regarding the problems faced by poor-socially disadvantaged children and teens. According to the US Census Bureau, poverty rates in persons of poor socioeconomic status or from disadvantaged regions have increased this year compared with previous years. A rise in the number of children and teens with absent parents due to poverty has contributed to an increase in mental health disorders. Individuals with mental handicaps have many personalities. While some are calm and self-reliant and can be docile and patient, others may become aggressive and impatient. Others are assertive and cooperative and hardworking. Individuals suffering from mental illnesses are frequently hospitalized for longer periods of time and suffer worse nutrition, especially those with high IQs. People with mental impairments face many health challenges, such as the lack or inadequate of a medical record, inability to communicate well about health concerns to healthcare providers, transport to services, cost and accessibility to care. People with mental disabilities are more likely to engage in antisocial and delinquent behaviors than the rest of society.
Lack of parental support, poor relationships and insufficient access to nutrition, treatment and care for mental disorders can all contribute to mental impairment. Research has shown that mental capacity is one of the essential qualities for helping mentally disabled people. All stakeholders, including policymakers and non-profit groups as well community groups and others, agree that there must be initiatives to reduce mental health problems, increase self-esteem, decrease the dropout rate among adolescents and children.
