Due to the negative effects it has on both human and non-human life, climate change is a critical issue facing modern civilisation. This article provides a detailed overview of the consequences of climate change. It covers everything from the melting of ice and habitat loss in the arctic to the destruction and devastation of Russian houses and businesses. It would have been helpful to include the United Nations Climate Change Conference, which was held in the United Kingdom on 2021. The conference and Climate Action Summit together demonstrate that the world is committed to combating greenhouse gas emissions to reduce the impacts of climate change.
To gauge the progress and outcomes of climate change mitigation efforts, it is important to be able to identify and understand both short- and long-term strategies being used by governments. To help determine whether it is feasible to eliminate GHG emissions completely by 2050, the United Nations, its international agencies, and national governments can be provided with examples of their short-term and long-term actions. According to the statistics in this article, more than half the Sustainable Development Objectives of the United Nations require that environmental protection be a priority. Additional information could have been provided about the effects of rising temperatures on our existence. For example, the possibility that major cities around the world may become flooded by melting ice or rising sea levels. (Zheng and al., 2019,).
These articles provide information on the potential contribution of social workers in climate change mitigation. Social workers have to convince legislators that legislation is needed to limit greenhouse gas emissions, and encourage environmental conservation. Along with campaigning, social workers could also be candidates for elected positions and may have direct control over policies that affect the environment to promote sustainable development. Article rights state that environmental protection is one of the human rights concerns. It has a direct impact on our existence and the survival of the planet. Social workers have to advocate for the protection of the environment in order to restore human dignity and live in a safe world.
