To promote understanding, the concept of discourse community allows for deep analysis of concepts and topics. These communities include people who have different perspectives, skills, ideologies and point of views. Different thinking adds to conversations and widens the members’ views on topics. Because it encourages people to think critically about public problems so that other can make informed choices, the concept of discourse communities makes sense to me. A discourse community is a group of people who discuss certain ideas using debate, narrative and explanation. The opinions of other people can be obtained via magazines, newspapers and journals. This community encourages interaction and dialogue between novices and experts. Discourse community includes a way to contribute information and comments. (Dziak 8). Many people use FAQs, blogs, email, and meetings to exchange information with other individuals and offer diverse viewpoints on specific subjects.
What and how did I find the idea of a discourse community?
Harvard Business Review is an academic journal that provides business knowledge. I’m a dedicated reader. While reading Harvard Business Review in 2019, I came across the notion of a discourse community. It was fascinating to read the counterarguments and arguments of business professors. They were analyzing the business practices of Fortune 500 companies and the leadership style of some of the world’s most influential business leaders. HBR magazine received data from leading business research experts. Some of these researchers questioned the ideas presented by others, and some supported them. Harvard Business Review essay authors have deep industry and academic knowledge. These experts can examine different business processes and advise executives and company owners on how to adopt competitive and sustainable strategies. I was able to learn about current business practices and how strategic management tools can be important in order to make sustainable business decisions. When I was searching for an established business magazine, the idea of discourse community came up. A friend suggested to me that I read Harvard Business Review because it contains credible academics. These professors may be available to participate in public discussion on topics such as the ethics and necessity of locking downs.
