Kaliyadan (2019) explains that there are both continuous and categorical variables. A category variable label is a value that denotes one group. These include the gender of the person, hair color, and race. Variables with continuous values may assume any integer within a specified range (Kaliyadan & Kulkarni, 2019). Among many examples are age, weight, height and pay. Continuous variables were used to determine the ages of workers and their race. Variables used in the study are descriptive statistics which describe each data set’s characteristics. This instrument measured variance and central tendency as well as other statistical measures. This research examined a range of continuous factors such as employee salaries, education levels, job experience and salary. Kulkarni (2019), and Kaliyadan agree that categorical analysis uses frequency distributions and crosstabulations to determine the percentage of individuals with certain opinions or who come from specific backgrounds. Nonparametric tests like the Fisher’s exact or chi-square test can be used to determine differences between categories. Continuous data can be analysed using measures such as mean, median and mode (standard deviation). The author’s findings indicate that parametric tests like ANOVA and t-tests are necessary to establish the differences between the groups.
Nominal data vs Interval data
It is used to delineate categories, not quantities. When data is not arranged in a meaningful way, it’s often used to classify the data. For example, you could categorize individuals based on their marital status or gender. In interval data, on the other hand, is similar to ordinal information, except that every point of the scale is placed equally (Halawi, 2022). You cannot have an absolute zero point, so ratios don’t mean anything. Each step of a 10-step scale, for example, is divided by the same distance. An interval scale does not have a zero point so ratios cannot be meaningful. The Kelvin temperature scale would have a zero point above 0 degrees Celsius, but this is not the case (Halawi, 2022). Written or narration may be used to record or write down nominal data. This could include taking notes or recording youngster opinions about an image or event. Instructors can use documentation to identify the strengths and reasoning of an individual. You can keep track of no data in many ways, but the most common is a daily paper sheet. Many daycare centers use daily paper sheets. Accounting is an important reason for no data.
