Part I: Vision of Leadership
To foster respect between team members, followers and to encourage good communication and empathy, we must create a positive, productive, and comfortable work environment.
Part 2: Leadership Objectives
i. Active hearing
Active listening can be an essential leadership skill, regardless of whether it is in small teams or larger organizations. Leaders who are open to listening and respect others’ opinions will be more successful. Effective leadership, according to Müller and Turner (2017), necessitates that leaders engage and participate in dialogues with the goal of gaining members’ perspectives, whether good or negative. My active listening skills need to be strengthened and improved. It will enable me to trust others, and to encourage them to discuss their ideas.
ii. Constructive comments
Feedback is crucial for workers working in groups. Bachmann (2017) says that leaders must provide constructive feedback as it helps boost the motivation, morale and overall positive outlook of their subordinates. Constructive feedback has proven to be an important element in continual improvement. My goal is to create an environment where people feel confident and positive. I also want to increase my capacity to offer constructive criticisms. I want to give feedback to members that encourages and motivates them to be better.
iv. Improved emotional intelligence
In situations that involve group work, emotional intelligence can be a benefit. It is a person’s ability to recognize and understand the feelings and motives of others. Emotional intelligence is a combination of self-awareness and social regulation. Leaders with the desired degree of emotional intelligence (Müller & Turner, 2017) make choices with a primary focus on the effects of their decisions on others. My ability to understand the feelings and experience of others is essential in creating a positive and welcoming work environment.
Leadership based on examples
To be effective in leadership, people must lead from front. Leadership must demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and accurately with their followers. Leaders may not have the right qualifications for every position. To be an effective leader, you must have open communication, empathy and a willingness to accept criticism. To encourage the best attitudes in my team, I will lead by example.
V. The capacity for change
Leaders must have the ability to adapt and be open to learning from others, especially team members. Working in groups has many benefits. One of these is the ability to utilize diversity. In the face of changes, it’s important to stay flexible and adaptive. A leader must have the ability to adapt to other perspectives and be open to learning from them. This skill is in line with the leadership vision that emphasizes increased productivity.
