In the United States of America, unemployment and lack of opportunities have been critical issues that impact the quality of the life of the citizens. Inequalities in society have led to increased poverty. The challenges are felt by individuals, families and communities as well as the country. Even though there is increasing unemployment and the lack of economic opportunity in society, this shows that there are components of inequality as itdisproportionately impacts minorities. As evidenced by the number of African Americans in America living in low-income areas that lack resources or prospects for economic growth, policies made in America have been detrimental to minorities. The living standard of many groups in society is affected by unemployment and lack of opportunities. It can be prevented by encouraging equitable resource distribution, especially to marginalized groups.
Lack of employment prospects and unemployment can be a result of many factors, including social habits and beliefs. Although unemployment is caused by a shortage of job opportunities, the root causes of this problem can be cultural or political. As a social group, many cultures have denied females the opportunity to receive the same education level as their male counterparts. (Pedulla 2018, 2018). These factors led to a shortage of skills and knowledge, which in turn contributed to the unemployment problem. A gap exists in the enrolment of secondary and postsecondary students, essential to delivering formal education. This reflects the rise of unemployment among minorities. McKinsey found that 57% American firms find it hard to recruit enough qualified entry-level staff, including those from underrepresented groups. Others, such as beliefs and cultural factors, as well as societal and environmental considerations and the impact of climate change on certain industries like agriculture, can also play a major role in unemployment and poor economic prospects. These factors all contribute to a lack of opportunities that reduces businesses’ ability to provide enough jobs and improve their economic prospects.
For society to have a high standard of living, members of the population must have jobs. Although unemployment and low economic prospects should be considered primarily an economic problem, it is important to consider them as social problems. This causes social disorder in the entire society. Social issues have a significant impact on society by limiting people’s ability to achieve their potential (Pedulla 2018, 2018). Individuals are forced to give up a lot of their life accomplishments because they have limited economic opportunities and unemployment.
