Simpson was an All-American football star and actor. Nicole Brown (OJ’s exwife) and Ronald Goldman (her friend), were found murdered outside Nicole Brown’s house on June 12, 1994. Police found significant DNA evidence supporting their belief in Simpson’s involvement. Simpson refused to comply with an LAPD demand on June 17, which was made by the LAPD.
OJ Simpson’s Ford Bronco, which he was sitting in the back of with his revolver pointed at him head, was seen on the road by OJ Simpson. If the police tried to arrest Simpson, he promised to take his own life. His buddy Al Crawling convinced him to not commit suicide after sixty minutes. He was then arrested.
This case inspired me to pursue forensics, and I now want criminals punished. OJ Simpson used DNA mismanagement to prove his innocence. This led to his conviction. To identify victims, forensic investigators use chemical and biological DNA profiles.
My interest is in the field of forensics, and specifically how forensic investigators determine which criminals committed crimes. To determine guilt, forensic investigators use DNA and fingerprints. My interest in forensic science was rekindled by this case.
Nicole Brown (OJ’s exwife) and Ronald Goldman (her friend), were found murdered outside Nicole Brown’s house on June 12, 1994. Authorities suspected Simpson of being involved in the crime, and issued a statement asking him to surrender.
The key players in the Simpson case were Simpson (the defendant), the LAPD and Simpson. Simpson’s lawyers also played a crucial role.
Robert Shapiro and Johnnie Cochran were Simpson’s lawyers. F. Lee Bailey was Alan Dershowitz.
The crime weapon used in the murder was described as a long, serrated knife which was not located by police during the trial.
OJ Simpson’s case was heard at a preliminary hearing on July 8, 1994. The purpose of the hearing was to establish if OJ Simpson has a case and whether or not there was enough evidence to support criminal prosecution.
After analyzing all submitted materials, the judge concluded that sufficient evidence was available to allow the trial to go forward. Twelve jurors were chosen on September 26, 1994. The jury consisted of eight blacks and two Hispanics. One Caucasian, one Native American, and one Caucasian.
OJ Simpson, Nicole Brown Simpson, and Ronald Goldman were acquitted by the jury after they evaluated all the evidence.
OJ Simpson was convicted of the murders Nicole Goldman and Goldman. Goldman brought a civil lawsuit against OJ Simpson in October 1996. He was convicted of murder by the jury and his families were awarded damages totaling $33.5million.
Since the evidence was lacking, from its integrity to contradictions and the testimony itself, the decision by the criminal court was perfect. Detective Mark Fuhrman, for example, found a glove at Simpson’s house that did not fit him. The DNA that was gathered was also incorrectly handled. Therefore, evidence was not sufficient to satisfy “beyond doubt” standards. The burden of proof for civil cases, however, is significantly lower because it’s based upon a probability scale (Jentzen 2017, 2017). Simpson was therefore found guilty of the offenses based upon the weight of evidence and required to compensate two families.
