The lesson will equip students with the knowledge and skills to transfer their knowledge about measuring length to solving more complicated problems. For example, they can calculate the perimeters of polygons from the sides. They also know how to determine the unknown lengths from the perimeter.
Learning will be assisted by the classroom. Teachers can encourage a positive attitude towards education by providing a learning environment. This will encourage participation and allow for debates and learning.
There are 32 students in the classroom and 1 instructor. This classroom contains four students with language-based learning problems. IEPs (individualized education plans) will provide customized instruction. The models and photos will be used by other students.
These problems can be applied to real-world or mathematical situations. The tasks include calculating the perimeters of polygons of specified sides, finding rectangles with the same perimeter and different areas, as well as vice versa. (Grade 3 » Measurement & Data | Initiative for Common Core State Standards, 2020)
• Define and calculate the perimeter of numerous kinds of polygons, including triangles and quadrilaterals, at the conclusion of this session.
• Determine the length of an unknown side given the perimeter and other sides of a polygon. • Compare rectangles and identify those with the same perimeter but different areas.
Key vocabulary in this lesson includes polygons. Quadrilaterals. Triangles. Perimeter. Side lengths.
The instructor will explain the meanings of these words to the student and use classroom examples to demonstrate the vocabulary. The instructor will then ask pupils to show comprehension using different models in order to verify their understanding of the vocabulary.
