Personal declaration
My experience as a lecturer has allowed me to help many students get their master’s degrees. In order to ensure that the research project is successful, I’ll play an important role. In other words, I will be available to the researcher at all levels of the research process in case there are any difficulties.
This study aims to gather ideas from participants to help them consider whether affordable housing and increased healthcare access might be key to improving mental health for homeless persons with mental illness. People with mental illnesses are often faced with financial difficulties and difficult access to care. For homeless people with mental illnesses, it is more difficult to find affordable housing and quality treatment. Florida continues to have high levels of homelessness despite the state and federal efforts to decrease it by providing temporary shelters or healthcare services. The current research will explore whether eliminating these barriers will reduce the incidence of Florida homelessness, in particular among individuals with mental health issues. The project has the following objectives:
1. For information on the mental health needs of those who have been homeless for some time
Qualitative interviews will be conducted with participants of the study to obtain their views and opinions about homeless persons.
Assess whether more affordable housing or better access to health care could help homeless people in Florida who have mental illness.
To achieve this objective, qualitative interviews will be used to collect the thoughts and opinions of the research participants.
Informing policy makers about how to reduce homelessness in Florida for people living with mental illnesses
By making the results of this project available to policymakers, we will achieve our objective.
The research methodology
Significance
The increasing concern about the homelessness of those suffering from mental illness is raising concerns among policymakers, healthcare professionals and government agencies. Homelessness has been increasing due to a decrease in access to health care and the lack of affordable housing for mentally ill homeless people. It is increasingly becoming difficult for most homeless people living with mental illnesses to get medical treatment. This can be due to many factors including language barriers and negative stereotypes, racism, discrimination and lack of enough healthcare professionals. This research is intended to provide information for all interested parties regarding how to deal with the rising needs of the homeless and reduce the state’s overall homelessness rate.
