The activities which are designed to maximize the benefits of people’s actions is called act utilitarianism. The person responsible for determining the best way to maximize the utility of the activities and provide maximum benefit to the most people is called act utilitarianism. In contrast, rule utilitarianism seeks to maximize the utility of activities by establishing moral codes with rules (Dimmock & Fisher, 2017, p. 26). These moral standards define boundaries and allow for the definition of certain behaviors, despite the fact that morality is determined by their effect on individuals.
