Christianity, a faith founded on Jesus of Nazareth is the foundation of Christianity. The religion was not established until Christ’s resurrection and death. However, the primary teachings of the faith have been accepted by the followers, who spread the gospel across many generations. Christ could be identified as Messiah, the Son Of God, or the Crucified-and Resurrected Savior.
Jesus was the messiah, implying that he would be God’s anointed. The promises of ancient prophets led the Jews to believe that Jesus would be anointed to liberate them from their servitudes and trials. From a Christian point of view, Christ’s identification with the Messiah means that he has been anointed by God (Molloy, 2020 p. 343). The identification that is associated with Christ as the Son of God, on the other hand refers to Christ’s divinity. Christians believe that Christ was created by God the Father, regardless of the confusion around Jesus’ divinity and humanity. Jesus has a personal relationship with God because he is his father. Christ’s ministry on Earth is what makes him known as the crucified, risen Savior. Jesus was sent to the earth in order to save humanity. He would do this by taking his own life (Molloy 2020, p. 346). Christ’s suffering on the Cross was a sign that he would suffer for others, but Christ’s resurrection signified that his victory over death meant that he had paid the price for his sin, which is death. Christianity holds that Christ is both the crucified, risen Savior. He died on the Cross and rose the third day to rescue mankind from everlasting condemnation.
Christ taught many values. Most prominent are compassion, love, generosity. These qualities are extremely relevant for the nursing profession. Charity can be defined as the act of giving aid without regard to one’s personal interests. You can also include acts of kindness, such as the ones done by nurses. On the other side, kindness is an attribute that involves acts of charity, care and concern for others, without asking anything in return. Christ focused most of his message on love for others (Molloy, 2020, page 345-346). These values can be applied to nurses when they are devoted to providing care and support to people in need. These qualities are essential for nurses to be motivated and able to do their jobs.
Christianity relies heavily upon the life and teachings of Jesus. Understanding Christ’s identity and the beliefs it embodies is crucial to understanding the religion. Christ’s teachings were profound and reflected characteristics such love, compassion, charity that are relevant for current professions like nursing.
